About me

My name is Jason Magalios-Schulein. I began Literos to offer better educational choices in English language learning and editing services. I firmly believe that education should be fun, creative, and encourage critical thinking skills. If you wish to learn more about me, read on.

My education

I graduated from the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in 2011 in Athens, Greece. My IB courses included English, Social Anthropology, and Theater. My Extended Essay was on Media Studies and my TOK essay was in Film.

I then, went on to study at Queen’s University, Canada, obtaining a bachelor of arts, majoring in Political Studies. I took a semester abroad in Zagreb, at the Faculty of Politics, University of Zagreb.

Finally, my master’s degree was obtained from the University of Malmö, Sweden in Communication for Development. My thesis topic was “The Intersection of Social Entrepreneurship with Communication for Development by examining NGOs in Croatia using Content Development and Critical Discourse Analysis”.

In addition to these degrees, I have obtained certificates in teaching, including as TESOL and CELTA certificate.

My work

I have been teaching English to teens and adults for 12 years. I have had the privilege of being able to teach in a variety of different countries, such as Greece, Canada, Vietnam, and Croatia, giving me a wide range of cultural experience.

The levels at which I have taught are equally diverse. I am experienced with novice learners, experienced professionals, young children and retirees.

I have been editing and proofreading professional and academic paper for over 6 years, for professors, faculties, and high ranking institutions.

My interests

I love traveling around the world. My favorite destinations are Kota Kinabalu and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I cook everyday for my family and my favorite meals to prepare are is Pho and Souvlaki. I read every day, but my favorite books include The Lord of the Rings and Dune. I also read Japanese manga, and I am a fan of One Piece. I try to play games every week. I either play Terraforming Mars with my lovely wife or Dungeons and Dragons with my friends. We have a garden in the countryside where we grow all sorts of fruit and vegetables; making pear snaps is my favorite time of year. Last, but not least, my daughter, who is almost 3 years old, loves painting, singing, and dancing; and I love spending time with her.
